The ruins of the ancient city Ak-Beshim are located south of the city Tokmok, near the village Ak-Beshim (from Kyrgyz which means "white noon").

Ak-Beshim was one of the main cities on the Silk Road. It was one of the shopping centers in the Chu Valley.

The city was built in 4 phases, starting from the 5-6 century.

Today, here one can look at the ruins of the Chumish Fortress, Nestorian monastery and a Christian church, two Buddhist temples. And also, one can observe cave paintings and burial mounds.
