It is strictly prohibited to export from Nepal
- Historical and cultural treasures — items older than ~100 years: antique artifacts, statues, paintings, ancient manuscripts, religious images, ancient coins. Without special permission from the Department of Archaeology, Nepal, their export is considered illegal.
- Protected animals and plants and any products made from them — skins, horns, bones, ivory/tortoiseshell products, parts of exotic animals, rare plants, medicinal herbs from protected species.
- Narcotics, psychotropic and prohibited substances — strictly prohibited from export in any form.
- Weapons, ammunition, explosives, and hazardous materials (including potential chemical/explosive/flammable items) — export without a special license is strictly prohibited.
- Counterfeit, fake, and illegal copies — prohibited from export
What can be exported subject to compliance with the conditions
- Modern souvenirs, handicrafts, textiles, clothing, ordinary items that are not antiques or protected objects as a rule, these are allowed.
- Jewelry, metal/stone items if they are modern items and not antique/valuable; exporting antiques requires a permit.
- Personal belongings, household goods, items for personal use (clothing, footwear, trekking and travel equipment, photo/video equipment) provided they do not fall into the prohibited categories.
