Alauddin lakes
Sughd • Tajikistan • 3519 m
Lake Alaudin, also known in Russian as "Mutnye ozera" (the murky lakes), is a high-altitude lake located at 3,519 meters in the upper part of the Pasrud Valley in Tajikistan’s Fann Mountains. It lies directly at the foot of the Kaznok Pass, which rises to 4,088 meters, surrounded by 5000 m. alt. peaks such as Chimtarga, Mirali, Energia, Zamok and Chapdara.
The lake is fed by glacial meltwater, giving it a milky turquoise color that shifts with the light. It is often confused with other nearby lakes lower in the valley, as many travelers refer to the entire chain as the "Alaudin Lakes" or sometimes the "Chapdara Lakes." In reality, Lake Alaudin is the uppermost of them, located closest to the high mountain passes.
This remote alpine lake is a popular stop for experienced trekkers crossing between valleys or descending from high passes. Its raw natural beauty, isolation, and views of the surrounding summits make it a remarkable place for camping, photography, and rest during a multi-day hike.
