Kok Jayik meadows - Teleti West
From the wide alpine meadows of Kok-Jayik, the hike begins with a magnificent view of Oguz Bashi Peak (5168 m), the emblematic summit of the Jeti Oguz valley. Its sharp silhouette rises above the forests of the Teskey Ala-Too range, guiding the eye toward the high mountains. The trail first follows a gentle forest road for about 2–3 hours through lush pastures and tall fir-tree forests. The air is filled with the fresh scent of resin and mountain grass, while the distant sound of the river and birds accompanies the walk.
Still under the shade of the fir trees, the path then turns eastward into the Teleti gorge. The valley becomes narrower, with dense forest covering the north-facing slopes, and the river flowing close to the trail, its clear water echoing between the slopes. After about two more hours of hiking, the landscape gradually opens and the forest thins, revealing juniper-covered hillsides and views toward several elegant 3800-meter peaks such as Kyzyl Djar and Ayu-Tor on the eastern side.
Small waterfalls tumble down the rocks of the gorge, bringing cool mist and the constant murmur of water. The best campsite lies on the western side of the Teleti Pass, a peaceful alpine spot where tents can be set up beside the river, surrounded by the quiet wilderness of the Tien Shan.
