Embark on an immersive two-hour walking tour through Kyzyl Suu village, the principal village of the district, offering a rich tapestry of cultural and historical experiences. Our journey begins at the charming Orthodox church, a striking edifice painted in soothing shades of light blue and white. This church stands as a testament to the village's historical ties and the enduring presence of Orthodox Christianity in the region.

From the church, we make our way to the heart of Kyzyl Suu, the main bazaar. En route, we pass by the newly constructed Muslim mosque, a significant addition to the village that highlights the coexistence of different religious communities. The mosque’s modern architecture adds a contemporary touch to the village’s landscape.

The bustling market of Kyzyl Suu is not just a commercial hub but also a site of historical significance, famously chronicled by the Swiss traveler and writer Ella Maillart in her 1932 book. Here, you can witness the vibrant daily life of the villagers, browse through a variety of local goods, and perhaps purchase unique souvenirs.

After exploring the market, we will visit a private museum that provides a fascinating glimpse into the past. This museum meticulously showcases the lifestyle and traditions of the local inhabitants over the last century. Through carefully curated exhibits, you will gain insights into the cultural heritage and the everyday lives of the people who have called this village home.

This tour not only offers a walk through picturesque village streets but also a journey through time, illuminating the rich cultural fabric of Kyzyl Suu and its historical evolution.

This programme has been designed by the Kyzyl Djar Association in charge of tourism development in the Jeti Oguz district to give you an insight into the village of Kyzyl Suu, but also to train our young guides.

Immerse yourself in the ancient traditions of the nomadic Kyrgyz people with this unique knife-making experience. In the Islamic tradition, known as Sunnah, every man carries a knife, a tool as essential as it is symbolic.

In the serene village of Svetlaya Polyana, you'll visit a local knife manufacturer and witness the artistry of this age-old craft. Watch as metal is transformed into a sharp blade, its handle meticulously carved from bone.

These knives are more than just tools. They are a testament to the Kyrgyz people's resilience and resourcefulness, purchased by shepherds who spend their lives amidst the rugged beauty of the mountains.

You'll also learn about the cultural customs surrounding these knives. In Kyrgyz tradition, a knife is either bought or stolen - never simply given. These knives are also used to create intricate ornaments on wood or on a komuz, a traditional Kyrgyz musical instrument.

Prices vary by size, starting from 2,000. Each knife is a unique piece of art, crafted from metal and bone, carrying with it the spirit of the Kyrgyz people and their nomadic heritage.
