Opera and Ballet Theater in Bishkek

The Maldybaev Opera and Ballet Theater, located on Abdrakhmanov Street in the Sverdlovsk district of Bishkek, opened in 1937 in Bishkek as a Musical Drama Theater. During his long career, a large number of performances have been staged at the Maldybayev Opera and Ballet Theater. The architectural style of the main building of the theater is the embodiment of classics in the best traditions of ancient Greek urban planning. The Kyrgyz Theater has never limited its activities to stationary work, actively strengthened and expanded ties with the theatrical art of other peoples. The leading soloists traveled to many countries of the world, presenting the opera and ballet art of our republic. The Opera and Ballet Theater gave performances and concerts in the most remote corners of Kyrgyzstan, artists performed in open areas in front of livestock breeders of mountain pastures, cotton growers of the South, beet growers and grain growers of the Chui Valley. The Kyrgyz Opera and Ballet Theater will continue its noble activities for the development of the national theatrical culture, the role of which should be strengthened and become more and more significant in modern life.
